Ted Leo covers the Beatles

One of my all-time favorite artists Ted Leo covers the Beatles’ “Looking Through You” off their album Rubber Soul. Check it here.

Can’t say that I dig it much at all. It’s really interesting…

The Sound of Settling…

We had a great weekend of unpacking (yet again). With both Dana and I working full time, it’s hard to have a lot of energy at night to get much done. Our home is looking nearly finished, with the exception of wall-decorations. We have things on our walls, but it seems to have gravitated to more of my arty concert posters than nice decorations. We’ll get there soon, but it takes time to find nice, reasonable wall-decorations and we’d rather take our time and hunt around, than spend money on something we’ll dislike in a week.

We were able to liven up the weekend, by spending it with one of our friends. He’s someone I’ve only hung out with a few times before we got married, so he’s quickly become Dana’s friend as well.

I have a couple recommended website readings:

  • HowStuffWorks.com is ridiculously addictive!
  • eHow.com can give you tips on just about anything. It’s been a great reference for me, on how to raise Stewart well.

Thanks for reading!

Ah, married life

Well, it’s day #19 and married life is going well. I’m quite surprised at how easy I’ve been able to make the transition to “we” and “us.” It seems that everyone says that is extremely difficult, but I’ve found it quite easy. The only major issue thus far has been figuring out which concerts to go to!

Not much else to report. Our new home is coming along well, and Stewart, our lovely kitten is growing quickly. I’m trying to get into the habit of updating this more often.

The one thought that has been plaguing me lately is this: why do families let differing political beliefs deconstruct their families? I’ve heard of this happening more often than I think it should. I’m all for strong political beliefs, but I think it tells a sad story when families allow their political philosophies to destroy not only their social networks, but their familial ones as well. Families are obviously important, but I certainly feel that no one should cut themselves off from those with differing believes either. It’s disappointing when people shut themselves into a like-minded hole.

Anyway, I’ve love to hear someone or a few people weigh in on why families allow this.

Welcome back to work…

Wow, I was welcomed back to work full force. The Senate got hit with 5 viruses (probably more at this point) on Monday. It was a hellacious battle to get rid of them, but I finally prevailed! I think my coworkers could’ve just said, “It’s good to see you again,” rather than everyone getting viruses ;-)!

New Chapter II

Be sure to check out my home page if you haven’t all ready. I’ve updated links to mine and Dana’s photo gallery. We’ll be uploading all of our photos here for easy viewing by all of our loved ones. Stay tuned for wedding photos!

New Chapter

Wow, what a whirlwind couple of weeks. As most of you know, I got married on 8/6/2005. It was as they say, one of the best days of my life. I had fun every second of it. Ok, well maybe not at the point when I went to shave and realized I had run out of shaving cream…that wasn’t great, but it was still amusing. My lovely wife, Dana Hirsch, and I moved to Washington, DC the following Tuesday and arrived in our new home 8/10/2005.

It’s been great settling down, and getting adjusted to our new lives. Many things will change, of course, but we are looking forward to growing together.

One setback during the move was spending Wednesday evening in the GWU ER. I smashed my knee into a brick ledge and sliced open my knee. We found out that a laceration, is more than just a cut. It’s a cut that extends through all of your layers of skin, and into the tissue beneath. Guess what I have…yup, a laceration. 5 stitches fixed it, but I’m still limping around.
